There are many ways to conduct a funeral service but the majority of people wish for their service to be carried out in a simple and traditional way. When families come to see us and make the arrangements we will guide them through all the necessary steps needed for the funeral to take place. Everyone’s requirements are different and we pride ourselves on being flexible to every family’s wishes.
At many of our funeral homes we have quiet, comfortable chapels of rest where families can come and spend time with their loved one and pay their final respects. We will provide an appropriate coffin, usually oak veneered or solid wood and on the day of the funeral will provide bearers to carry the coffin. On the day of the funeral we will often leave from the family home with the coffin travelling in one of our Mercedes Hearse’s and making our way to a local church before going on to a crematorium or cemetery. This doesn’t always have to be the case and we will adapt to individual family wishes, for example by just meeting everyone at a cemetery for a graveside service or arranging for a private family committal at a crematorium with a memorial service to follow later.
Alternatively, there are many options available to personalise a funeral service to cater for someone’s individual taste. Please go to our Alternative Funerals page to see some examples of what is available.
